Gotcha Day-Part 2

Introducing our son, Jackson Kuan Swartzlander!!!!

BirthPlace: Datong, Shanxi, China
Birthdate: August 22, 2007
Given Name: HeKuan

We were scheduled to get Jackson at 3:00pm but they were stuck in traffic. It was well after 4:00 when they arrived! He did so well coming to me and then to Kurt. He was very somber, but was continually checking things out in the room. There were 2 other families getting their children.

We did not leave there until after 5:00pm. Once we were back at the hotel, we had to finish up other paperwork because we WILL be traveling to Daton tomorrow morning. Kurt and I have totally given this part of our journey over to the Lord. It is a long drive and we had been denied previous requests to go.

We went to the Chinese restaurant in our hotel for dinner. We hand fed Jackson the inside of the dumplings until he was ready to eat the dumpling itself. When the fried rice came, we put some on his plate and before we knew it, he had picked up his chopsticks with his left hand, turned the plate with his right hand and started shoveling in the rice!!! It was hysterical!

We colored for a little while this evening and he even made himself laugh quite a few times. He would even start to smile when Kurt kissed his neck.

He can walk but we think he was always held and carried, so we will be practicing that everyday.

His little ear does have an ear canal, but the ear covers it quite a bit. We have not been able to get him to turn to his name when called, but turned when Kurt clapped behind him a few times!

He is wearing a size 18month and weighed approximately 9kg. with the clothes we put on him (overalls and a shirt and shoes) We have a scale in our bathroom...how convenient!

Our post will be very late tomorrow, because of the traveling. Hopefully when we have the free day we will be able to post more pictures.

Thank you for the prayers! Today has truly been miraculous!
